Dirtcolored Seed Bug – Malezonotus rufipes. Torrance, Los Angeles County, California, USA. February 20, 2009. Size: ~ 3 mm. Found not long after a rainy period in February. Based on top-view details of head and thorax, I initially guessed it would be in genus Prytanes. [Dr. Stål’s original description of Prytanes oblonga in Latin removed A small Seed Bug, 5 mm long of the Family Rhyparochromidae (which was previously a subfamily of the Lygaeidae).
